For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires.
2 Timothy 4:3
And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.
Revelation 22:19
Previously most Bibles and biblical reference works were produced by professional scholars writing in academic settings. The Voice uniquely represents collaboration among scholars, pastors, writers, musicians, poets, and other artists. The goal is to create the finest Bible products to help believers experience the joy and wonder of God's revelation. This is the first-ever complete New Testament in The Voice translation. Writers include Chris Seay, Lauren Winner, Brian McLaren, Greg Garrett, David B. Capes, and others.

I recently purchased a copy of this fresh "dynamic translation" of Bible and spent some time doing comparative work with key passages of the New Testament from The Voice, The ESV and the Greek text. Sadly I must report that this new Emergent "translation" is so far off the mark that I think one could reasonably argue that by producing their own distorted version of the Bible the Emergent church has crossed the line from being a 'movement' to actually becoming a cult.

Dr. John MacArthur Video on The Emerging Church Heresy
Christianity has always had to fight off heretical teachers and movements. Paul and Peter wrestled with the "Gnostics". A heresy of having a "higher knowlege." There are others in history which have claimed a higher knowledge than what scripture would plain about. A sort of "New Gnosticism" (or Neognosticism) is the loosely associated movement called "Postmodern" or "The Emerging Church."
It is every bit as cultic in nature as Jehova's Witness and Mormonism, though it is less organized as these. Yet, the teachings of leaders within the heresy dress sharp, act hip, and have a trance-like grasp on their inexperienced followers. Most who get involved in the Emerging Church are those who claim to be intelligent, yet have not found the historical Jesus portrayed by evangelicals and main line denominationalism, satisfying.
